Meet the other Team: Our Animals

Blue Dasher Farm believes that livestock plays a crucial role on the farm

We bring in seasonal animals for meat such as free range chickens, turkeys, and feeder hogs, but some of are animals are year-round Blue Dasherans. All of the animals here have a role on the farm, and we'd like to introduce you to some of our more permanent residents!

Our Farm

-apple & plum orchard

-raspberry patch

-elderberry pass

-mini vini (small grape vineyard in the making)

-home production vegetables and various other fruit

-various herbs and flowers

-a baby "jams & jellies" permaculture orchard in the making

The plants and animals work together:

Our farm feeds and supplies ourselves, our families and our communities with many goods and nutritious foods. It also helps us introduce a generation to farming and with livestock integrated into the system.

The Sheep Flock

Blue Dasher has a flock of approximately 50 hair sheep, meaning they shed their own hair and do not need to be shorn. The sheep move around the farm, providing plant and weed management with their grazing and hooves, manure to return and build nutrients to the soil, and meat to feed our community. They have become a beloved staple of the farm.
